Water Ninja

Tears of the Earth inaugurated the Water Ninja Project on World Water Day, March 22, 2024.











The Water Ninja Project focuses on water conservation and emphasizes the universal right to safe water for all. It aims to educate students about water conservation practices and encourage their participation in safeguarding this vital resource.


The inauguration ceremony was held at the HRIT Group of Institutions conference hall in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Approximately 150 students and guests attended the launch.


Mr. Bhupender Yadav, Director of Programs at Tears of the Earth, who also was part of a session in the same morning, addressed the audience and explained the importance of water conservation. He discussed the state of clean and safe water in India, reflecting on his research thesis on the Yamuna River conducted in 2023 at the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University in Siberia, Russia. He elaborated on methods to ensure water safety, including parameters such as pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), total dissolved solids (TDS), heavy metals, and microorganisms.


Speeches by distinguished guests followed, including Mr. Sawan Kanojia, founder and director of the Environment Club in Meerut; Anuj Aggarwal, vice-chairman of the HRIT Group of Institutions; Rumit Walia, Founder-Director of Tears; Rajat Chaudhary, Data expert; and Pallav Kumar Gopal, CEO at Vayu Mitra Venture Pvt. Ltd.


Mr. Sawan Kanojia elaborated on traditional and innovative methods of water conservation, such as rainwater harvesting, wastewater reuse, and saving water from RO filters. He shared his team's efforts in water conservation initiatives like "Jal ki Baat" and "Jal Chupal" in villages.


During the event, Rajat Chaudhary and Bhupender Yadav unveiled the Water Ninja website and logo. They also outlined the Project's plans, inviting students from colleges to become 'Water Ninja' water conservation ambassadors.

Towards the end, Pallav Kumar Gopal announced the Water Ninja Fellowship for undergraduate and graduate students, launching an innovative program dedicated to forming a task force for water conservation. The fellowship, spanning three months, will engage nine exceptional individuals committed to water conservation, treatment, and awareness spreading. Participants will form three teams operating in the Delhi NCR region, dedicating approximately 25 hours per week to environmental endeavours. Their responsibilities will include conducting workshops in schools, colleges, and communities, each team receiving mentorship and specializing in specific areas.


The students expressed keen interest in joining the Water Ninja Fellowship and becoming water conservation ambassadors in their institutions. At the closing ceremony, plant saplings were provided to the Guests, marking the launch of a new initiative and work towards Peace through Water.
